Time To Talk Imagination Again

Let me start off by saying that while I am writing this I am watching Pys’s “Gangnam Style on Youtube. Lately, “Gangnam Style” is a song that has reached viral status on Youtube.  With over 209 million views and counting,  this music video gives me reason to laugh.  I enjoy the dress classy dance cheesy feel of the music video. “Gangnam Style” inspires me.

Now,  back to the topic of imagination and the creation of things.  I have a formula to my imagination;  let me share.  I classify imagination into two types:  Pure-creativity;  synthetic-creativity.

Pure-creativity is a conscious effort to create and or discover something new that can be either tangible or intangible. The creation of an original artwork is a good example of pure creativity.

Synthetic-creativity is taking something that already exists and putting a “funk” to it. Fusion food is a good example of “funk.”  Another good example of “funk”  is adding a twist/interpretation to something that already exists- Lana Mckissack/Fu Music with a remake of Maroon 5, One More Night. At times, the re-creation is better than the original.

Now, after all the schooling, jobs, lifestyles, and attempt at law school,  I find my imagination tainted and dull. How did I lose my imagination? Was it because I crammed my head with facts rather than fantasy? Or was it when I reached the legal drinking age?  Maybe, perhaps, or when the time I was introduced to Luca Pacioli and the accounting formula?  I don’t know when I lost a bit of my imagination; but, now, I want it back.

I had to relearn to create that imagery and not that image.  And now, I am slowly defining myself…..

Thanks for reading!  =)
